Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st Test Preview – Dec 11, 2019

The most important thing is that the test cricket is back in Pakistan after 2009. In 2017 and 2019 Sri Lankan players came here for t20I and ODI’s and then their squad was not complete. But this time they got a full test cricket team. Pakistan lost their last 17 test matches out of 24 and dropped from the 1st position in test rankings to 8th number. From 1982 to 2017 a total of 53 test matches has been played so far between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan won 19 of them and Sri Lanka got 16 victories and 18 matches had been drawn.

Pitch and conditions

Rain is expected for significant parts of days two and three. The pitch was covered on match eve, meaning the strip is a bit of an unknown, though batting first is likely the way to go.

The highest total of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is 600 scored by India in 2004 against The home team Pakistan. The home team Pakistan’s highest total of the venue is 537 scored against Australia in 1994. Against Sri Lanka, Pakistan scored its highest 390 in 2000.
