Aiden Markram: Not the campaign we hoped for. Decent start with the bat but sadly we couldn’t get over 200. Guys tried well but fell short at the end. Lot of learnings along the way, we have a great group of guys. The pressures are high and things get under the microscope but I’ve learned a lot. Vivrant was great, he and guys like Klaasy and Bhuvi were consistent.
Rohit Sharma: We came with the mindset to win and not worry what happens elsewhere. Just hoping for the best. I haven’t spoken to anyone. Even if we don’t go through, we got ourselves to blame. If we do, boys get credit. Last year, we did a great favour to RCB. We hope the result there goes our way. We didn’t start well but fixed things along the way. If I have to look back, we lost crucial moments and games like against Punjab here and last game vs LSG. We can’t look too much into that. Sometimes it doesn’t come along which is fair.
Cameron Green, POTM: Great stand with Rohit, he’s experienced. Having his leadership at the other end helped. The setup has been great, I’ve been well looked after. No pressure despite the price tag. The intent at the top is important, with Ishan and Rohit above and SKY below me. Pollard has helped with range hitting too. When we had 20 to get, I told SKY to finish it. But with two runs to go, we just trickled over the line.
Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Highlights today, Sunday 21-5-2023. 69th Match (D/N), Indian Premier League 2023, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma: Just the nature of the pitch and because we’re comfortable chasing. The pitch is a bit dry, it’ll get easier to bat as the sun sets. Shokeen is out, Kartikeya is in. We just want to win, not how or by how much even though a lot of things are involved. We aren’t thinking too far ahead. We’re quite familiar with the conditions, guys have responded well. At the end of the day, you just have to play well.
Aiden Markram: We’d like to finish strong. Not the campaign we’d have liked. Opportunity for us to test our bench strength. There are a Kartik Tyagi and Umran Malik are back in the team. Hopefully they’ll come good. It’s a high-scoring venue, great chance for our batters to be fearless. Hopefully we can click as a batting unit.

Pitch and weather: From the Southern end, there are smaller square boundaries – in the 63-to-67-metre range. The fine ones are in the 50s. Straight boundaries are around 70 metres. Kevin Pietersen says the red soil stands out and it’s been a good wicket historically. He says he likes to see the grass. KP says MI prefer to chase and they should stick to that comfort zone. The pitch map shows short and full ball have been expensive (SR of 181 and 221) while the good length balls have gone at 129. KP says heavy lengths, top of off should work for the bowlers.
