The home team England’s captain BA Stokes won the toss and he decided to bat first. After six months break of international cricket, the England team managed to score 204 runs on the board in their first innings against the West Indies team in The Rose Bowl, Southampton cricket ground. The captain of the team BA Stokes was the top run-scorer from his team with 43 runs off 97 deliveries.

JC Buttler † faced 47 balls and scored 35 runs. DM Bess added 31 runs to his team scorecard and he goes not out. The opener of the team RJ Burns scored 30 runs off 85 balls. DP Sibley has gone with duck, JL Denly contributed 18 runs. Z Crawley scored 10 runs, OJ Pope 12, JC Archer 0, MA Wood 5, and JM Anderson 10.

The West Indies team captain JO Holder dismissed six English batsmen in 20 overs and he gave just 42 runs. ST Gabriel bowled 15.3 overs and he leaked 62 runs with taking four wickets. The West Indian opener KC Brathwaite scored 20 runs off 65 balls not out. JD Campbell scored 28 runs and out, SD Hope 3 not out.
