JJ Roy opener of the English team scored 180 runs which are England’s highest-ever ODI score in cricket history. He faced 151 deliveries in his beautiful innings, he smashed 16 4s and five maximums in his great innings. When his wicket dismissed then the damage was done and then it was 42.3 short, pulled, top-edged, gone! The end of a triumphant inning from Roy, the MCG rises as one to a brilliant performance. A bit of a tired ending went for the big Humpty over the leg side but ended up with a lobbed chance to backward square. But what a statement innings from a resurgent one-day team! 281/3. JM Bairstow contributed 14 runs and out, JE Root scored 91 runs not out.
